Creamy Young Coconut, Citrus and Berry Smoothie

Magic Ingredients:

  • Young coconut water and meat
  • 1/4-1/2 cup filtered water
  • 2 large oranges (I used blood oranges)
  • 1 cup mixed frozen berries (or berry of choice)
  • 1/2 lemon juiced (or a full lemon for an extra citrus twist)
  • 1 tbsp melted coconut oil
  • 1-2 tbsp coconut nectar
  • 2 tsp chia seeds
  • 2 slices of fresh ginger, approximately 1/2 cm in thickness
  • 1 slice fresh turmeric, 1/2 cm in thickness (or 1/4 tsp turmeric powder)
  • 1/2 banana (optional for extra creaminess!)
  • 4 ice cubes

What To Do:

Open up the young coconut (use all of your strength!) and carefully pour the water into a glass to use for the smoothie. Scrape out the meat with a spoon, and carefully use a sharp knife to remove any shards of the shell from the meat.

Place all ingredients, layered with the coconut meat first, fruit, ice cubes and then all ingredients in after that.

Blend it all together in a high speed blender until it’s smooth and creamy! Makes 2 large smoothies or 3 medium, or even 4 smaller serves. Enjoy :)
